993 SMOG failures – Many 993 owners have failed the California smog check because of the “OBDII monitor test”. When your 993’s battery is changed and the power supply has been disrupted or if your check engine light has been reset the vehicle must go through a series of self tests before it is ready for the California smog. On most vehicles it’s as simple as driving the vehicle for about a week and it’s ready for a smog. Unfortunately for the 993 it’s extremely difficult for the vehicle to naturally complete these self tests with normal, daily driving.
